Kelsey, Chris, and Fox came over around 4:00 PM. Fox brought several games and his hockey goals and sticks. He immediately wanted to play hockey (he was the Preds and I was the Blackhawks). He told me how the Preds lost their last game 3 - 5, but that they had won a lot of games before that. While Jenn was preparing dinner, Kelsey and Chris played a card game, while Fox and I built a marble run and then played his bear game.
For dinner, we used our fondue pot and cooked our own steak cubes and had potatoes, broccoli, and fruit as sides. Fox watched Paw Patrol (Mighty Pups) while he ate his chicken and pepper strips with ranch dipping sauce. After dinner, Chris and Fox played hockey while Kelsey baked chocolate chip cookies and Jenn and I cleared the table. We all played Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch on the TV until Fox's bedtime. While Jenn worked on getting Fox to sleep, we played Mario Party.
Once Fox was asleep and we finished our game of Mario Party, we played a card game called Peanut until about 11:30 while the Nashville New Year's Bash was on TV in the background. We then watched the countdown to the New Year and then they got their things together and got Fox out of his cot and went home.
Jenn and I weren't exactly ready to go to bed yet, so we started watching an episode of Castle on TV. We apparently were more tired than we thought and both fell asleep (Jenn in the recliner and me on the couch) and woke up around 2:30 and went to bed.
Kelsey is still having some contractions, but little Norah will be 35 weeks old today, so we are praying for at least another week before she decides to make her entrance.
We have never been much for big New Year's celebrations, so this was a great fun evening at home with family and a great way to bring in a new year.
